What to expect
Wood Islands Lighthouse sits on the same point as the ferry terminal, with a smaller range light and a red sand shore in front. If you are arriving from Caribou, it is the first real stop on the island. If you are driving the southeast shore, it anchors the western end of a run toward Cape Bear. The ferry is seasonal and should be reserved in July and August. The lighthouse has its own, more limited hours.
