What to expect
Cape Bear Lighthouse stands on a spruce-backed headland above the southeast shore. The Marconi station here received a Titanic distress signal in April 1912, and that history is part of the stop when the site is open. Fog is common. The light is still worth the drive when the view is a wall of grey, because the place is about the corner of the island, not only the panorama. Admission may apply when the station is staffed.
